Howdy,
Sunday afternoon/evening—and somehow slipping into the night with cleanup and hanging out—we had an easy-going and enjoyable Surf-and-turf, wavy-wet, “beach-themed” birthday party for Riah Surf Hawes.
His First.
Riah Surf, one year old.
It was great. Very pleasant evening.
Wonderful friends, the Stuckers, willing to host in the backyard, were joyful and gracious in their generosity toward the party as well as full-fledged participants.
And we used the backyard: water play, Wiffle ball, BBQ, kids create-your-own-beach-scene-birthday-dessert station (creative kids, they did a great job with it), Uncle Casey’s traveling bocce ball, storm-watching with amazing and weird (cool) June weather with a sky of fantastic clouds when beautiful and blue and ominous and dark towers tipped toward earth when threatening to pour extra water into our play, presents, and of course Riah pounding a smash cake!
That cupcake with sugary frosting didn’t have a chance!
(Not the banana pictured above 😉 though that did start with a lit candle on it—see below …)
Good birthday day and good birthday party. Fun stuff.
Thanks, Stuckers, for hosting, and thanks all for coming (and for the gifts)! Riah really seemed to enjoy the day; we’re very happy with the birthday party and love our little Riah. Our growing Riah.
Surf’s up! He’s one.
God bless Riah Surf Hawes as he grows.
Happy Birthday, Riah!
Love,
Papa & Mama
Jasper and Titus
