Howdy,
Continuing to edit (and add to, write inside) the Jake Jones story. From chapter five, here’s what’s “new” with the novella:
“He smiled wholly when a shot with english on it spun around and around and started to look more and more like it’d drop for a goal. And sometimes, when he felt especially like messing around, he’d aim for it, time after time. After time. It was not simple to conjure or command.
It was a challenge, the toilet bowl trick shot.
A real challenge: the variety possible to take on when possessing the superabundance of unimpeded hours required, enraptured—like Jake Jones the boy who wore a basketball’s dimple marks did. The toilet bowl held its own mystery: difficult to replicate on demand. That was the challenge, replicating the flush. Not even time after time, but once in a while. A successful tornado-twist touching down and swirling nylon net seemed almost a moment of its own making. Carefree. The hippies of making hoops.”
