Howdy,

Continuing to edit (and add to, write inside) the Jake Jones story. From chapter three, here’s what’s “new” with the novella:

“Except his grandma.

His grandma noticed. She’d say goodbye and wave, every time, her pattern as steady as Jake’s. Reciprocating, Jake replicated hers, happy to be hailed. For a few weeks after Jake and his dad had moved in, Grandma J. had attempted to keep the youngest member of the cobbled family closer to home, calling out to Jake’s dad for support, but Dad had nodded Jake along. Jake caught a strong wind that a conversation was being had about him as he drifted away that day.

It took for some time to pass, but Grandma didn’t take to stopping him anymore, saying not a word more than “goodbye” about his going. She must’ve watched out for him, to always bless him on his way.

Jake figured, to her credit, she must’ve resolved that if his father determined not to say he couldn’t go, she wasn’t going to interfere in it. But she’d intercede.”
