Howdy,
Previously I posted a shorter Facebook version; but thought here I’d expand this personal drama and question for all humanity.
Pride v. Grace.
I asked, Reader — and hopefully eventually, Listener, with our scenario pondered and discussed in podcast form — are you, “Curious to hear about as FIRED UP & STUBBORN (!!) as I tend to get?” (From my perspective, so … ???)
My intention for this is meant neither to be cocky nor prideful. (But I just used neither and nor, so I don’t know if I can be trusted.)
Some situations, though, some human interactions, some people, are full of pride. Drip with it.
Pride drenches me. Not a news flash. I know enough about it to at least stash an umbrella and try to towel off after leaping into puddles, splashing as if in a child’s galoshes. They’re shiny boots, for a spoiled kid.
And in Pride v. Grace we’re not talking get-an-A+ pride, or, better yet, your-child-gets-an-A+ pride. With that, knock yourself out clapping and connecting high fives. Cheer and encourage. (By the by, our child doesn’t even know what his maestra is saying yet, so we’re not even worried about A+’s at this point. For my family — and thousands others having seen the YouTube video — “… not even worried about it …”
In the podcast, Matt Garman and I chat about a recent occurrence displaying, egging-on, and testing human pride over rightful spots, but also about giving with grace. We really wonder about graciousness from strength. Which would be a Wonder; being Scriptural, cultured, and civil enough to consistently be in position to offer graciousness. And to understand grace enough, to give it.
And I say: LUCKY for THAT OTHER GUY!
(Who’s that? Sorry, you’ll have to listen to find out about that scoundrel and his shenanigans. Image below will play it.)
