Howdy,
Today the Hawes brothers found a (somewhat) new way to use the time during one of Jasper’s Easter break days off school.
Jasper and Titus opened and operated what I’m calling the Hawes Bros. Hamburger Stand.

Startup
(It’s really going to be the photographs that steal the show for this post; I realize that. They’re just so darn cute, those two, in their little In-N-Out hats, working hard and ready for business.)
They had a Closed and Open sign, starting with closed while they worked out their business model and prepped the product, a handcrafted cash register with a drawn keypad, and ended up with a menu of hamburger, no-bake cookie, toast, and juice for their (indoor) “hamburger” stand.
I was the Hawes boys’ only patron today, but they served me with excitement — and really eyed the coins going into the cash register.
We’ve had several renditions of “Jasper’s Store” in the past, and Jasper would share some of his earnings with Titus out of his feeling of abundance of coin — it seems — but today Jasper and Ti worked exceedingly well together to make this happen: shared efforts and shared profits.
The went all out — and I’ve got a home of toast crumbs and trails of honey to prove it — and enjoyed their time serving food and earning money. As I’m writing this up I wish I had gotten more pictures, because the cash register was cool, and the menu was handwritten by Jasper, and they had a sign for “ordering” and a sign for “pick up, and they had a plan, and they executed, and they even helped clean up for the most part.
It was a successful first day of business.
When Grandma saw the pictures she requested, “Please ask Hawes Bros. if they deliver …”
And I replied, “If they can make a dime, they will.”
